How could this happen? A teen with diabetes dies

I recently heard that a teen who had undiagnosed diabetes passed away. I have read the cautions about letting your blood sugar run high but always in the context of increasing the numerous complications. I was absolutely dumbfounded to hear a teen in today's age could possibly die from undiagnosed diabetes! Every March, the American Diabetes Association celebrates  Diabetes Alert day.  Kudos to the diabetes association for getting the word out to the millions of people who are at potential risk.  I feel from the bottom of my heart more than ever that people need to listen to their body. If you are not feeling well, seek out medical attention instead of "self-diagnosing".  When your community offers diabetes screenings, please participate or ask your medical physician for a diabetes screening. With type 2 diabetes, often people go undiagnosed for as many as 10 years before the actual diagnosis.  Is it possible that this young person's life could have been spared with more awareness or a diabetes screening? I am afraid that answer is yes. Let's stop diabetes so more lives can be spared.222I recently heard that a teen who had undiagnosed diabetes passed away.
