More Coffee- Less Risk for Diabetes

If you can stand the jitters, a new study shows that caffeinated coffee reduces the risk for type 2 diabetes, and the more the merrier. Pulling data from three long term health studies, with subject data spanning 20 years, the research showed that more coffee equated to a lower risk for diabetes. The association did not carry over to decaffeinated coffee or to tea, and, of course, researchers were cautious about coffee additives and the fancier coffee-based beverages that are so popular. In the study cited, drinking more than 3 cups of coffee per day resulted in a 37% lower risk for diabetes.  Benefits seemed to extend to as many as six cups.
